CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
we BUILD
Build is the third dimension. What started as an idea evolved into a drawing, and can now take physical form.
We stay present through this phase because the work is not done when the drawings are finished. Getting a project built the way it was designed requires someone who understands both the intent and the technical requirements, and can answer questions on site without losing either one.
The Build Process
Build is where the reward for the previous two phases, dream and draw, show up.
It is important for your designer to stay present through construction. They work alongside contractors, respond to questions in real time, and help resolve the issues that inevitably come up on a job site. Having someone on hand who created the documents, understands the code, and has navigated this phase many times over means fewer delays, miscommunications, and a finished space that actually reflects what was designed which saves the Client time and money.
There is something DDB believes strongly about this phase: the job site is one of the best classrooms there is. For young designers coming up in the field, being present during construction teaches things that no studio course can. For clients, having someone on your team who understands both the design intent and the technical requirements means the project does not lose something in translation between what was planned and what gets built, while maintaining a schedule and a budget.
